Life Spring assists IDP camps - 2008-08-03 10:39:16
Since the post election violence erupted in early 2008 thousands of Kenyans have been killed and hundreds of thousands displaced throughout the nation. These internally displaced persons (IDP) have sought refuge in makeshift camps hastily set up by the government. As the rival political parties settled on a compromise to share power the violence has dissipated in general. However, many people remain in the camps as their farms and homes were destroyed and they don’t feel they have the ability or desire to return. Throughout the year Life Spring Ministry has been helping these camps by providing food, materials, and funds for medical services for the Kenyans living there. Women and children have been hardest hit by these circumstances. While many organizations have completed their work and departed the areas affected by the violence, Bishop Alex continues to provide assistance as he is able through donations coming into Life Spring Ministry. One camp administrator stated that, other than the Red Cross, Life Spring is the only organization that is helping in any measurable amount. Life Spring is very grateful for all who have given prayer and financial support for the IDP camp assistance.
