2008 Marks First Incorporated Year for Life Spring - 2008-12-31 11:09:01
As we look back on 2008 we remember the tragic events of the post election violence and the compassion demonstrated during those difficult times. 2008 also marked the milestones of incorporating the ministry in the USA as a 501c3 and getting our charter in Kenya. As LIfe Spring was just getting ramped up as an organized ministry we were challenged greatly by the events followng the disputed presidential elections, which caused rampant violence and terror. Kenyans became refugees in their own country and put into Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camps. While groups such as Doctors Without Borders and the CDC pulled their people out of Kenya, Life Spring was able to supply much needed food and materials to those in the camps. One camp official stated that, "Other than the Red Cross, Life Spring was the only organization that gave in any measurable amount." We thank God for His provision and all those who gave. We were also able to provide children with school fees in 2008 and set up a new water purifying system in Webuye. In November we also saw an unprecedented mission trip undertaken by a group of Bolivians who came and ministered to Kenya and Uganda. |
